Notice about the Rayne Foundation’s changing areas of special interest.
We give Grants within four sectors: Arts, Education, Health & Medicine,
and Social Welfare & Development. Within these four broad sectors, we encourage
applications that apply to our evolving list of areas of special interest,
which are listed below. To find out more about these areas, please click on the
individual case studies where they exist:
- Arts – Building projects for performance / display / conservation (but not
building maintenance or repairs).
- Arts – Greater public engagement with architecture through better architecture exhibitions, events and other initiatives.
- Education – Developing literacy and numeracy skills amongst the hard to reach. Read the
Fairbridge case study.
- Health & Medicine – The provision of medical and healthcare for homeless people
which increases active participation by homeless people in their health. Read the
Oxford Homeless Medical Fund case study.
- Health & Medicine – Patient information and particularly patient information centres in NHS hospitals.
- Social Welfare & Development – Improved quality of life for older people.
- Social Welfare & Development – New approaches to affordable workspace and community facilities
for the voluntary and community sectors.
Excellent applications outside these areas are welcomed. In the last 12 months, 60% of awards have been outside these areas of special interest.
To read about examples of programmes which fall outside our areas
of special interest, please see the case study for
